activeCollab does not send notifications to people who execute the action (create a ticket, post a comment etc) - they are simply ignored while all other subscribers get a notification.
There was one release with bug that resulted in email notifications being sent to authors as well, but this has been fixed long time ago and not present in latest stable release. Because of that, we recommend that you upgrade to it if you are using an older version.
