Hi guys, sorry for the late response. We are currently overwhelmed by work so no time for a product release.

I'm hoping we can take a breath during new year time frame and think about how to approach this.

Overall it'll be a non-flash, lots of ajax, drag/drop resource management tool.

Fei is this in the works and are you anywhere near completion?

We would love to able to use this as a resource manager to track and see a view where all our resources lie. Who we can assign projects to and who is just simply too busy to tackle additional projects/tasks?

Thank you!

@Fei - Does this link a persons available time to the estimates on milestones where they are responsible? resource allocation set per milestone sounds good as we dont always use estimates on tickets.

I would be happy to develop this further if it meets our basic requirements (would need more details), it would save me a few hours building the system from scratch.

What price are you offering this code for?

Ya, for this particular client they only use the milestone level so I had to build on milestones.

I actually have an agreement with this client to resell this module. But I wanted to make it take tickets and tasks as well, which I never had the time to do so...:(

Looks promising. Only concern would be that Milestones are not tasks in themselves, just goals and people would be working on tasks to reach a milestone (in best practice type situations.

The lowest task is a subtask under a ticket task, so technically it would be preferred to assign hours at that level and be able to "roll" it up and add into the ticket task. The milestone would just be a great place to "see" the results.

Starting at the Milestone would appear to put the solution in a dead-end corner where the hierarchy of the tasks vs hours would not allow the solution to be able to upgrade itself to encompass more features.

Oops, I just saw this thread.

I actually have done a module for an accountant firm client for similar purpose, I call it auto assign.

Basically this allows you to define estimated hours for each milestone, and rules of picking up assignees for each milestone based on their availability and workload.

OK, I wrote some scope for this, and tried to keep it simple for AC.
Here are some considerations, before I go to deep:

1.We will define a resource as a personnel resource with an availability of hours, not a machine or procedural resource :)
2. Resources may need to be dependent on a whole lot more than just the estimated hours in a task. But we will need to keep this simple. It seems to me that in AC, we would need to start with a basic calculation of hours a person is being expected to be able to work on a task. Multiple tasks will generate multiple (sets of) hours for a resource and they would be reported as a "total" amount of hours "allocated" per week.
3. The PM will need to figure out if it all makes sense and make individual changes to peoples hours to "make things work" In other words a)multiple trips to a reporting function, or b) a reporting function that allows editing of hours people spend on tasks, without round trips to the individual tasks
4. In a sophisticated system, you would be able to have resources "balanced" automatically between tasks, something like: Lets spread 100% of Bobs available time over 5 tasks and now tell me when they will be finished... That would NOT be a realistic goal for AC at this point (right?)

If I'm going in the right direction, I can send you what I have Nirav, if feedback is negative, I will need to make changes or drop it :)

We are an advertising agency. TMA stands for The Martin Agency. Currently we use aC for our operational projects, which is where we would use resource allocation the most and our creative department also use aC. The creative department and strategic planners would use the dependancies features as well. I'm all for simple as long as it gets the job done. We purchased many of your modules and I have been happy thus far. Any roadmap that you will place on your site?
