I agree this would be an extremely useful feature. We have been evaluating activeCollab for our institution and nested project hierarchies are a must for us. The hierarchy of tickets and tasks would be needed in every subproject, but also a listing of all subprojects' entries should be available from the main project overview. Also milestones would have to be applicable to either the main project or the subprojects.

activeCollab does not support sub projects like that, but tickets alone are flexible enough to be used as sub projects in most cases - they can be broken into subtasks, and can have unlimited number of attachments and comments.

If you need more than that, you can always create a new project. Related projects can be grouped in project groups, for better organization.
