Ilija,

This is exactly what i'm looking for:

1 - to respond to a regular client's email and cc a copy to a given project and topic/task/mislestone

Also, whilst i'm at it,

2 - to receive messages from AC via email and reply straight back to the Project, WITHOUT having to log into the web app.

3 - to create a new Task from my email (or smartphone) and post it to a given project.
with start+end date, and description.

4 - To cc or send files and assign folders and task, together with description.

This might sound asking too much, but this together with the lack of cross search capability is the reason why we abandoned using AC 0.7; we wasted way too much time login in, waiting for the given page to render ,etc...

We NEED to work super fast, and emailing, (also with our mobile phones) WILL make your application a killer app.

Problem with this is that it will make installing activeCollab a bit harder: Cron settings + SMTP settings. Everyone would like this one, but when they are asked to poke around with control panels and command line than they would just go: "This script is crap. I want it to work, not to learn everything about administration to get it up and running..."

Plus, there is a certain amount of complexity here because you are introducing another data input that is SPAM prone and pretty difficult to process in some cases (HTML vs plain text, encodings etc). I don't know if there are class libraries that make this tasks easy (I hope that there are some nice code out there) so I don't know how much time would it take to make it properly.

I've been thinking about this, it would be a great feature, but there are some pretty important things that need to be addressed before we go for it.

We'll see...

It think he means that you have an email address which gets checked and parsed by AC through a cron job, so you are able to add tasks by sending an e-mail to this specific address. Just like the feature you have in Flickr for example, where you can upload new photos by sending them to your secret e-mail address...

I guess it's a 2.0 feature (or at least stable 1.0...) ;)
