If you are UPGRADING there is no need to run install script. If you get "not installed" type of error your config.php is not good:

1. It is empty (has just return false)
2. It is not readable and writable by the script

Fix your config.php to be able to use upgrade script or to skip "not installed" message.

Btw, this could not happen on its own. Something changed...

ok, no - I don't want to upgrade nor install, that was just a test. and strangely I got error messages as described above - not like installing the first time.

I hope to get my two aC installations back up and running.
At both installations the config.php is not empty but looks the way it should, and it is chmod'ed to 777, just to make sure.

yes, I guess something must have happened, but I have no clue what - I'm running the aCs on a subdomain of a friends sever, he has no idea what should have happened - I fear the server fu...d up, somehow.

my mistake, this is better:
http://team.graswurzel.tv/phpinfo.php (two aC have been running here in the directories /flo and /ac) and
http://cool.graswurzel.tv/infophp.php (trying to install one, just to check in /ac ) (yes, I know - no consistent naming :-)

and thanks a lot so far

I really don't know what went wrong with your installation and have no clue where to start (without the access to the code itself, and in that case I'd need to charge you a small fee ;) ). Here is what you shoud do:

1. Backup everything - database and files.
2. Drop everything - database and files
3. Install fresh activeCollab installation but make sure that you are using same table prefix as in previous installation.
4. When you installed it successfully, drop data from database and insert the old one.

That should do the trick.

Hi Ilja,
I did as you said,
dropped the subdomains, the databases -
tried to install - but as I want to start the installation, I only see the first page, click "Ok" or whatever. Everything thereafter is just a blank screen.

I'll check with the server provider and tell you--

Check this first and see if there are any PHP errors or logged errors. If everything is OK fresh install should just work.

ok,
I'm lost.

Everything works fine on my homemachine - but the server is just gone ape.....

I've checked on "bug reporting", debugging on/off, cache/log.php (it's never been there), clean installs, upgrades, nothing works.
I start a new install, on a new subdomain, now http://t2.graswurzel.tv/ac7, (uploaded aC the 5th time, to have it all new), I get to see the install/index.php step=1, step 2 is just blank and on returning to any other page, everything is blank.
I even tried to delete my cookies, reset the cache (of my browser)... nothing.

manually setting config.php to the right values: doesn't get me anywhere, only in /cache I find the file autoloader.php, literally everything is listed there. I don't know why and what to do now.

I'll wait for the next non-holiday and then I'll contact the provider services...
Thanks so far

Hi Ilja,
my provider asked me to ask, whether aC is compatible to 5.2.0 ...
Is it?

Thanks
