Increasing activeCollab prices to reflect the progress made since the launch of activeCollab 1.0 was something that we’ve been thinking about for a while. As v2.0 shaped up, it became obvious that the next version will be so much more than what activeCollab was a year and a half ago. Since then, a lot of hours went into making activeCollab a better system - we improved the permissions, introduced a ton of new modules, added the support for mobile devices, improved the interface, added many useful tools...

When we looked at all these improvements, increasing the price seemed natural, but we didn’t want to announce it before activeCollab 2.0 beta gets shipped. There is no better way to justify the price than to ship a new version and show the improvements.

Now that activeCollab 2.0 beta is out, we can announce the new prices:

  1. activeCollab Corporate will cost $499 ($100 raise)
  2. activeCollab SmallBiz will cost $249 ($50 raise)
  3. Upgrade from SmallBiz to Corporate will cost $250 ($50 raise)

The prices of yearly support and upgrade plans, branding removal license, fully featured hosted demo and installation and upgrade services will remain the same.

There are two possible ways that these changes may affect you:

  1. You’ve been looking at activeCollab, but haven’t purchased a license yet.
  2. You have activeCollab SmallBiz and you are considering to upgrade to Corporate version.

The great thing is that as long as activeCollab 2.0 is in beta, you can take the advantage of existing pricing! This gives you at least three weeks to act and save $50 or $100 depending on license you will be purchasing. If you belong to the first group, then go to the Pricing & Buy page and purchase your copy of activeCollab right now. If you belong to the second group, go to View Licenses page of your profile and purchase upgrade for $200:

We are proud to announce that first beta version of activeCollab 2.0 is available for download. Beta is public and available to everyone who had valid support and upgrade plan on February 1st. If your support and upgrade plan expired before that day, you'll need to renew it before you can access the new version.

This release has a ton of great new features and improvements. Let us just highlight a few:

  • Full email integration including sending and RECEIVING email (as described in this blog entry)
  • Complete overhaul of Pages module
  • Significant People section improvements including better interface, ability to (re)send welcome message at any time, add user to more than one project at a time etc
  • Drag and Drop reorder for task, tickets, checklists and pages

While we are working on activeCollab 1.2, here is another important release in 1.1 branch. Reason why this release is important is that it has 40+ enhancements and bug fixes.

Most important enhancement in this release is the way subscriptions work. When you create a ticket, discussion, task or a comment you'll be automatically subscribed to receive email notifications regarding it. If your client creates a task or a discussion, but does not select anyone to be notified, project leader will be automatically subscribed and email notification will be sent to him. Same thing happens when ticket is created using Public Submit module.

These changes prevent important things to slip unnoticed. Rest assured that at least someone from your team will get a notification. If you don't want to be subscribed after posting, simply unsubscribe.
