A lot of bugs fixed, RSS and iCalendar are working as expected, items assigned to anyone are listed to all users involved and more...

Release candidate 1 was a success: 10 - 20 bugs found and fixed including:

  • RSS does not work on CGI installations of PHP
  • Activity log not updating
  • Data assigned to Anyone should be displayed to every user on the project (on My tasks page and in iCalendar feeds)
  • Double mailing on new comment
  • Search string not cleaned up

And more.

Because the number of fixed things is not that small we'll go with one more Release candidate to test the changes in the wild and make sure that provided changes work and does not introduce new bugs. This is the last Release candidate so don't worry - after this there will be 0.7 for sure.

How to upgrade?

If you are upgrading from 0.6 check out this page.

If you are upgrading from 0.7 RC1: overwrite every file except config/config.php and content of /upload and /public/files folder.

Works if u go to http://www.activecollab.com/files/0.7-rc2/ and clicking on the file there

Works if u go to the directory of the target download and select the file that way

^^ or just replace the uppcercase C with a lowercase c in the filename.

Cool! I’m looking forward to it ;)

Any idea if this fixes the “phantom bug” causing blank screens for some users(me!)? I’ll probalby try it out soon anyway, but if it’s definitely not squashed, I’d rather not waste my time.

Works great, well done again! Looking forward to what’s in store for the next release.

Have you done a poll to see what features people would use most out of the remaining ones in your list?

Download links are fixed.

@Su: One problem that can cause activeCollab to die without a sound is fixed with installer – SimpleXML extension is required on installation. That is the only situation that was described by the users and that I know for sure that causes problems. There could be still some problems with this. Best way is to stick with whatever works for you now and wait for 0.7.

The only way to work with this phantom bugs is to have direct access to the source or have enough data provided by the user. If you are not comfortable with providing me direct access to installation that causes problems or digging for details by yourself that I really can help much. Sorry…

Is it easy to upgrade from one RC to another?
I want to install the RC2 and use it in production but I want to be sure an upgrade to a new version runs smooth…

Thanks and keep up the good work!

“If you are upgrading from 0.7 RC1: overwrite every file except config/config.php and content of /upload folder.”
– Shouldnt the contents of /public/files/project_documents also be preserved?
avatar Ilija Studen 2006-10-11 8:10
No. Content of that folder has no value in 0.7 – it is replaced with storage engines.

# File system storage engine saves files in /upload folder
# MySQL storage engine saves files in database

If you upgraded from 0.6 to 0.7 backup /public/files/project_documents and delete it.

With the last upgrade we couldn’t import the old entrys and had to type them in manually – is that possible now or will it be possible in the futur; or was it possible allready and our mistake?
avatar Ilija Studen 2006-10-17 6:50
Did you use upgrade script? It should import all the data from 0.6 to 0.7 and they should be intact. Did installer show any type of error?

Wow.
Great work, I never expected to see it progress so fast!

Can I suggest that when milestones are created, that there is a calendar option that could alternately be used to pick a due date? I keep switching between my browser and my windows desk calendar when adding dates, making sure my due dates are on Fridays. That would be a kickass enhancement for me.

Also, perhaps a system to setup email reminders when due dates have been reached, or are getting close? Like, an OPTION could be in preferences to turn on email reminders, and the end user could set a variable for reminders. Weeks notice, one days notice, month notice, and custom (pick number of days.) And option (check box) to email project team when milestone due date has been reached.

So far, loving it otherwise! Much better than a wiki (which was what I was using before.) This is more spec’d to my team’s needs.
